About Tjejzonen
Tjejzonen is a non-profit association with no affiliations with a political party or religion. Our target group is girls and young women between the ages of 12-25 years from anywhere in Sweden.
We are a free zone for girls and offer activities, support and help. We work to create an equal society. We work against racism, violence, bullying, oppression and abuse and are open for all girls and young women - regardless of culture, ethnicity, sexuality or religion.
Purpose and goal:
To strengthen girls´self-esteem, confidence and trust in others and themselves
To give girls the opportunity to use their creativity for personal development
To make girls feel that they are needed and have a place in society
To make girls feel that they can trust the adult world
To stimulate girls to obtain knowledge and education
We provide several kinds of support, based on what suites the girl the most. We believe in one-to-one communication and the opportunities that it brings to prevent mental ill health. Our objective is to prevent mental ill health among girls and young women.
During the year of 2011 Tjejzonen had about 10 000 contact through chat, mail, counselling, Storasyster (Big sister project), mentor-ship and different kinds of activities.
Tjejzonen was founded in 1998 and has today approximately 200 active volunteers. We have a well functional association in which education in conversational methodology and professional conduct together with continuous tutoring of volunteers create the foundation on which Tjejzonen is built.
